Definition of PON, PON Standard and FTTX Solution

Passive Optical Network (PON) is a P2MP network architecture built on unpowered optical splitters to enable a single fiber to serve up to 256 subscribers. PON consists of Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Optical Distribution Network (ODN) and Optical Network Terminal (ONT); OLT and ONT belong to active part, whereas ODN is passive part. FTTX five traditional application scenarios: FTTH -SFU/HGU/ for Home, FTTR – Fiber to the room, FTTB -Fiber to the buildin, FTTM- PTP 1588V2 transfer through PON, POL Campus Application.

XG(S)PON platform consists of OLT, ONT and ODN, represents a high-speed, fibre to the home or building or Curb (FTTH, FTTB, FTTC and etc.) alternative to Copper. For the smooth evolution from DSL to GPON/XG(S)-PON, our OLT platform supports coexistence of GPON service boards and XG(S)-PON service board. Also GENEW’s OLT platform supports Combo-PON service board which included GPON+XG-PON and GPON+XGS-PON for the case of different GPON/ XG-PON/ XGS-PON service in the same ODN. Suppliers can smoothly evolve from GPON to XG(S)-PON in the same platform.
